19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the elite rankings and finally splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is his first championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from March of the previous year.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.
"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Medvedev.
"This championship is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
The athlete, the past champion, had lost his previous six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.
The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was over.
However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a deficit in the opening set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the last five points to take the lead.
The pair traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.
The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
